I’ve been wanting to get video of a AWD ice donuts for a while but it’s been too warm the last week or so. Finally today it’s 20 and blowy as frig. So I went out and had a bit of fun. Also this plowed area is the parking lot for the Sunday ice races. Which unfortunately is nascar style side by side, oval track racing, in old check Caprices with 3000lbs add to them. I’ve talked to some of the guys involved about doing a circuit coarse and time trails, they are not interested.

The crazy part is you still do burn tire. You’d thing the cold ice and significantly less friction would be enough to keep them cold, but after a few donuts you still smell tires

Which also means that you’re heating the ice and potentially melting a bit of it (which would probably reduce friction, since wet ice is slipperier)
